The “International Women’s Day” is celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the achievements of women in various fields and mark a call to action for gender equality. The Department of Land Resources, Nagaland joined the rest of the world in celebrating “International Women’s Day” under the theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” in the 5 implementing districts of PMKSY-WDC 2. O.

  1. Peren District:

The Department of Land Resources, Peren District celebrated International Women’s Day 2023 at the Office of the District Project Officer, Jalukie town, on 8th March 2023 at 11:00 AM under the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality” by inaugurating ‘Café Hut’ for Natural Teas with Shri. T.L. Kiusumong Tikhir, ADC Jalukie as the Guest of Honour. The event was attended by various organizations, District Administrators, and Civil Society organizations.

  • Kiphire District:

To Commemorate International Women’s Day, Painting, Speech, and Essay writing competition was organized by The Department of Land Resources Kiphire on March 8 under the theme, DigitAll: Innovative and technology for gender equality with SHGs, teaching faculties, and students of Agape School at Kiphire Town. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the various competition.

  • Noklak District:

The Department of Land Resources, Noklak organized an event on March 7 with a group of like-minded women from the Pangsha area called Volem Women’s Voice to commemorate International Women’s Day. The Department took initiative to support their participation in economic activities through soil sampling, seedbed preparation, polybag filling, and other works concerning the coffee nursery, as a source of income generation.

  • Tuensang District:

The Department of Land Resources Tuensang District celebrated International Women’s Day 2023 at K.Khel, Tuensang Village under the theme “DigitALL Innovation and Technology for gender equality”. The event was attended by various organizations and SHGs from nearby villages. During the event, the women folks were made aware of their involvement in the watershed project as an important aspect of Watershed Development and that their participation in the decision-making can bring a step closer to gender equality and an environment free from violence and discrimination.

  • Phek District:

The “International Women’s Day” was observed and celebrated at Pfutsero town on Wednesday with representatives from different SHGs under Pfutsero Blocks. Altogether 22 women participated in the celebration with Women Activist, Vileno Kapu as the Resource Person. An informal interaction and discussion focused on local vendors’ potentiality was also arranged at the end of the programme.
