Dated Kohima, 1st April 2020
We are pleased to introduce a new ‘COVID-19’ tab on the Raj Bhavan Kohima website. At this extraordinary time, countries worldwide are grappling with this unprecedented global scourge. India, like many other economies, has resorted to a 21-day nation-wide lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To that end, the Nagaland Government too, is undertaking all necessary measures to protect the health, safety and well-being of our people.
To successfully fight against COVID-19, the most important factor is to empower citizens with the right information and taking precautions as per the advisories being issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and the Nagaland State Directorate of Health and Family Welfare. At times like this, misinformation and rumors tend to make situations a lot worse. Our aim is to provide our people with relevant, definitive information on the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the state. Periodic updates will be provided for the benefit of our people. Be rest-assured that the Government of Nagaland is doing its best to deal with the current situation.
We applaud and pray for our brave healthcare workers nationwide – doctors, paramedics, nurses, technicians etc. who are putting their own lives on the line to serve our people. They are the angels at this most difficult hour. We also applaud and pray for all those engaged in ensuring the supply of essential commodities, administration and police force ensuring public safety and order, persons of media who are keeping the public and authorities informed of the prevailing ground situation.
Let us take advantage of this situation by making the best use of our time during this lockdown. It is an opportunity for each of us to repair and strengthen our family bonds, to read books or learn a new skill etc. Grandparents who are keepers of meaning and tradition may share their priceless experience and traditional folk tales with their grandchildren.
“Remember, this is a war against an invisible enemy that only grows stronger if we let it. With resolve and restraint, we will defeat it.”
