Saakshar Bharat

Saakshar Bharat programme became operational with effect from 8th September 2011 coinciding the International Literacy Day. Presently Saakshar Bharat Programme is operating in four districts namely Mon, Tuensang, Longleng&Kiphire where the literacy rate was below 5o% as per 2001 census.

 

Objective: Imparting functional Literacy, basic education, vocational skill development and continuing education programme.

Area coverage: Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire districts covering 349 GPs/ Villages, 26 blocks with target of 114307 non literate approved by GOI.

Voluntary teachers: 11430

Learners Assessment Test/ exam was conducted by National Institute of Open Schooling( NIOS) in collaboration with State Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA) Nagaland 11 (eleven) times.

And out of 114307 non literate approved by the GOI, SLMA has made 84459  literateas of 2015-16. On 20th March 2016, Learners Assessment Test will be conducted with target of 15500 non literate in the four districts i.e. Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire.
