Shri. Sharingain Longkumer, son of Late I. Nungshizenba Longkumer of Ungma Village, Mokokchung District, was born in Darogapathar, Dimapur on 30th December 1981. He is married to Smt. Sentirenla Jamir and they are blessed with two daughters.
Shri. Sharingain Longkumer did his matriculation from the Minister’s Hill Baptist English School, Kohima in 1999; Higher Secondary, from the Lawrence School, Sanawar, Himachal Pradesh, in 2001; B.A from the Hindu College, Delhi University in 2004; and L.L.B from the Faculty of Law, Delhi University in 2010.
Shri. Sharingain Longkumer has been an active youth leader in various student organisations. He was a Member of the NE Student’s Forum, Delhi, as the Finance Secretary, Ao Students Union, Delhi and the Executive Convenor of the Soyim Students’ Union, Dimapur.
Besides his involvement in the students’ activities, he was also the Managing partner of the Eastern Mirror (2016–2019), Managing Trustee, INRIS India Foundation (2015–2018), Secretary, School Managing Committee of the Imsutemjen Higher Secondary School and the Legal Advisor of the Business Association of Darogapathar, Dimapur (2016–2019).
Shri. Sharingain Longkumer was elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in a by-election held on 11th April, 2019 from the 26-Aonglenden Assembly Constituency as an NDPP candidate and took Oath as a Member on 28th May, 2019. Soon thereafter, he was elected as the Deputy Speaker on 06.08.2019 and was the Speaker–in–charge from 01.10.2019 to 13.10.2019 and again from 18.10.2019 to 06.02.2020. On the demise of Late Vikho-o Yhoshü, Hon’ble Speaker, he was elected as the Speaker of the Thirteenth Legislative Assembly on 07.02.2020.
